Kindergarten scheme
PA Wellington The supernumerary scheme for employing up to 150 kindergarten teachers who have not found permanent work will continue next year, says the Minister of Education (Mr Gandar). This would be the third successive year that it had been necessary to employ
bonded kindergarten teachers who were additional to staffing establishments, Mr Gandar said. From 1973 to 1976, recruitment had been at record levels. There was at present an imbalance between the over-supply of teachers and demand. The Government had reduced next year’s intake for training courses from 180 to 140 students.
