Sir, — Once again apartheid apologists attack Mr Richards and his dedication. For the enlightenment of R. V. Shaw (November 27), Mr Richards is national chairperson of Halt All Racist Tours. That is its term of reference. I am sure Mr Richards has stated publicly his abhorrence of black inhumanity to black or white where it occurs, but he and H.A.R.T. if they are to attempt any sort of campaign must keep H.A.R.T.’s term of reference. Mr Shaw uses the same hackneyed cliches about the rest of Africa that the South African ConsulGeneral uses, but should we forget about injustices of racist South African regime because they occur elsewhere as well? Mr Richards is doing a great job. He and kindred organisations seem to be doing Government’s job for it in this International Year against apartheid. — Yours, etc.
M. O’NEILL. November 28, 1978.
