Goldie for Rotorua

rua Society of Arts and several anonymous donors. The curator of the Rotorua Art Gallery, Mr J. Perry, said yesterday the painting was significant because it was of a Rotorua woman and because it was one of the last of Goldie’s works. Rahapa was an Arawa ch'eftainess who lived at Ohinemutu for many years and featured in at least three of Goldie's paintings. The painting bought by the council was done in 1940 and Goldie died only seven years later.
