Market remains firm
The firmer trend continued in Australia yesterday with the industrial trading mostly up. BHP gained 8c to 846 c, and the ANZ improved 5c to 385 c. Speculation among property stocks waned; Westfield steadying at 814 c after reaching 820 c while Hooker eased and Lend Lease and Stocks and Holdings remained unchanged. CSR continued its steady rise, firming another 2c to 335 c. The coal issues finished steady or up, while the uranium stocks had mixed fortunes. The mining leaders finished stronger.
