Cathedral tree
The giant Christmas tree which appears annually in the Christchurch Cathedral will be on display again next week. The tree will stand in the centre of the Cathedral from December 8. Gifts may be left beneath it. After an official blessing at a family sendee on December 10 the tree will be shifted back to its usual position —■ in the corner of the north transcept. Gifts left under the tree
will be distributed by the Save the Children Fund to children’s homes, hospitals, the City Mission, the Anglican Social Services, and the Society for the Intellectually Handicapped. Cash donations — which can be left in two boxes in the Cathedral — will be divided between the Christmas appeal of the National Council of Churches and the Save the Children Fund.
