Public Trust at mall
The first Christchurch subbranch of the Public Trust Office was opened yesterday.
The Minister in charge of the Public Trust Office (Mr Holland) opened the modern 1200 sq ft premises upstairs at the west end of the Hornby mall. The Public
Trustee (Mr N. C. Kelly) was also present. The office will serve Banks Peninsula and the area of Canterbury south to the Rakaia River and west to Arthur’s Pass. Already 6000 wills of persons within these boundaries have been transferred from the Christchurch office. A Christchurch office solicitor and accountant will visit the sub-branch twice a week, and normal business will be handled by a staff of three.
Because the elderly might be inconvenienced bv stairs up to the office, staff would do business with them at their homes, said the Hornby manager (Mr P. M. Kennett).
