CARSTON So often in the past the Riccarton trainer. “Mick” Murfitt. has found the Rangiora course a happy hunting ground and it proved no exception yesterday when he saddled Spy Force and Escaper to quinella the A. P. Bode Memorial Handicap Spy Force, having his first start since winning at the Hororata meeting last April, ran in the line behind the co-!eaders, Greek Legend, Beau Clic and Nyah. till the home turn and his stablemate. Escaper, was also close at hand Nyah headed off the
others running to the straight and Spy Force led the chase after her beginning the run home. He gathered in Nyah 150 m out then i pulled away to win by two and a quarter lengths. Escaper ran the 1200 m out well to take second, half a neck ahead of the fast-finish-ing Little Dan. The favourite, Orgella, came from far back for fourth. He was a length from Little Dan and outfinished the tiring Nyah by a head. The A. P. Boyle Memorial rounded off the course treble. The combination of Biddy Magee. F.t Tu and Spy Force paid §142.10.
