Akaroa meeting on today
Full totaiisator facilities will be available at Motukarara today when the Akaroa Trotting Club runs the first on-course meeting in Canterbury. Quinella betting will operate on all but the D. E. Woodhill Stakes, which is the first leg of the double. The second leg is the Scotch Abbe Handicap, a race for Cl pacers. Considerable interest will centre in the Thelma Memorial Stakes. This event, for mares and fillies, will be run in three heats. The first four to finish in each heat will qualify to start in the final, a $l7OO event which will be the final race on the programme. Selections: — 11 a.m.—Thelma Memorial ! Qualifying Stakes (heat one): j Nugent Royale, Aviemore, j Heather Holiday. 11.30 a.m.—Thelma Memorial Qualifying Stakes (second heat): Winning Lass, True Hanover, Spartan Queen. Noon.—Thelma Memorial Qualifying Stakes (third heat): Jover Magic, Charteris Maid, Safe Hanover. 12.35 p.m.—R. W. Ling Memorial Handicap: Gilt Edae, Abbey Chimes, Good Winter. 1.10 p.m.—D. E. Woodill Stakes: Gregory Garrison, Ostrava, Tarport Black.
1.45 p.m.—Addington Raceway Handicap: Dryden Mark, Scapa, Regal Ryan. 2.20 p.m.—Banks Peninsula Handicap: Kotare Flight, Pumpkin Sam Roday. 2.55 p.m.—Scotch Abbe Handicap: Noble Conquest, Merry Chase.
