Sir, — The Wizard of Id may have made it to the newspaper’s front page but an even funnier comic strip, “The Amazing Doctor Muldoon”, has made it to our letter box with the compliments of the member for Lyttelton. A not so funny publication issued earlier by the same doctor tells me that since 1975 when he became Minister of Finance the annual taxation haul has jumped from $2BOO million to $4600 million this year, oversea. debt has rocketed from $862 million to $2446 million and interest on the public debt has climbed from $221 million to $464 million. Is it any wonder that the patient’s condition is continuing to deteriorate and that he is sleeping badly? — Yours, etc,
