Gymnastics squads

National senior and junior men’s gymnastics squads have been announced by the men’s technical committee of the New Zealand Gymnastic Association. The men’s squad of 13 and the junior squad of 15 will be given as many opportunities as possible to participate In coaching clinics and competition. Male gymnastics is continuing

to improve and both squads contain plentv of talent, said Hie chairman of the committee, Mr Don Ferguson. New Zealand will have teams of a high standard when the younger gymnasts reach the elite (top) grade in the next couple of years. Several of these gymnasts performed particularly well on a tour of Australia early this year, Mr Ferguson said. Much planning is being done to give the gymnasts top-grade coaching and the opportunity for international competition but is being hindered by a lack of finance.
