Politics at Moscow Olympics
Sir, — I am impressed nei-l ther by Lord Chalfont’s arguments nor his title. 1 find it ironic that H. Williams should adduce as an argument. a fallacious analogy between the Berlin Olympics of 1936 and the Moscow Olympics of 19K0. when it is . universally known that during World War II members of the present South African; [leadership were gaolvd fori i their sympathies with the 1 [Nazi cause. As for [Shcharansky and Ginzburg,| [the former is a convicted : spy and is guilty with Gin- 1 Izburg of supplying slan-i i derous material to Western 1 j correspondents. For Lord! I Chalfont it would be morel seemly if his concern were directed to publicising the ! plight of Irish people rotting j ! in British gaols and concen- j it ration camps in Ireland’s I British-occupied six counties, i i frequently without charges; [being laid or their having j I been tried. As the state most: positively pursuing peace, I the Soviet Union harbours no war-like ambitions. — Yours, etc., M. CREEL. ' October 18, 1978.
