Children’s films

Sir, — On Saturday, August 26, in “The Press” there appeared an advertisement for a “Fanta Cinema Saturday” at the Avon Theatre. It was the promise of “Crazy Quizzles” and a comic exchange that attracted my children. As they are aged three and five Dad had to go along too. The children had a choice of between an ordinary movie or this show. This show was selected because of the extra attractions it offered. How disappointed they all were after having paid their $4 to find there were not_ any “quizzles” or comic exchange. Is this situation going to improve? I must

add that they did enjoy their free soft drink af half-time, and they didn’t mind the film. — Yours, etc., (Mrs) M. DUNCAN. August 27, 1978.

[The manager of the Avon, Mr Trevor King, said he was at a loss to know how Mrs Duncan’s husband and two children missed the crazy quiz, as he himself, “Uncle Trevor,” conducted it on stage at half-time. As to the comic exchange, “that is up to the kids,” he said. “They bring their comics and swap them at the interval. We don’t get involved in that at all. Everything that was advertised was on.”]
