Rugby
Canterbury not only won the South Island under 18 rugby tournament in Christchurch; it completed the series without having its line crossed. In its final game it beat Marlborough 26-0. Subsequently, five Canterbury players were included in the South Island side to play North Island at New Plymouth on September 23. The players chosen are:—
R. Loe (captain), C. J. Green (vice-captain), A. Anderson, E. W. Woudberg, R. B. Deans (Canterbury); K. T. Burns, D. J. Templar, I. K. Walsh (Southland); C. Hodgkinson (Otago); P. Katene (Nelson Bays); J. Mudg* way, R. Thomas. J. MacDonald (Marlborough), P. Cook, R. R. Knight (North Otago). Reserves.—G. Ryder, J. Latta (Otago), W. de Joux (Marlborough), J. Sutton (Mid-Canter-bury), D. J. Mould (South Canterbury).
