World of books
An Afrikaans novel that has now been translated into English opens the 8.8. C. “World of Books” this week (Concert tonight). The translator, Marian Friedman, talks about the differences of opinion about the final translation that she had with Karel Schoeman, the author of “The Promised Land.” The programme then looks at the children’s picture book “It’s a Dog’s Life” which author Mark Stern illustrated himself at the age of 15. Finally, the editor of the London “Sunday Times” talks about his recnet book which points up the influence newspapermen have on readers through the illustrations they chose to use.
