Praise for the work of tiie national director of coaching (Mr Pieter Jonejan) was heard by the management committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association last evening. ft came in the form of a letter from the senior lecturer in physical education at the Christchurch Teachers’ College (Mr F. A. Carter). Mr Jonejan has been conducting coaching courses for the students, and has taught over 80. “His ability and enthusiasm for the sport was an outstanding'
example." read an extract from the letter. It also applauded his teaching methods. The chances of the New Zealand hockey team on its four of Pakistan in November received a double blow when it was announced that both Selwyn Maister and Paul Ackerley. members of the gold medal winning team from the Montreal Olympics, will be unavailable for selection The team doctor for the trip will be Dr M. Marshall, of ' Whangarei.
