United striker hurt again
Christchurch’s Rothmans Soc-|i ! <?er League clubs both have in-jj jury worries alter the week-end's’ r matches, and for one team the; | situation is serious. t I Mark McNaughton, the Trans, t Tours United striker, was cruelly \ fouled by Sam Malcolmson dur- c ing United’s 2-1 win over East- c ern Suburbs at English Park on t Saturday. He limped through the remained of the first half, c but was replaced soon after half- f time by Richard Mulligan. ; Robbie Lai ter. Woolston ( W.M.C.’s winger, pulled a ham- ( string early in his side's match t with Stop Out in Wellington on e Sunday, The Woolston coach (Mr j Terry Mann) kept Larter on un- t ; til just prior to half-time before [bringing Graham Dacombe on \ I as a replacement. : F McNaughton’s injury is caus- f ing considerable concern in the [ I United camp. He received an • i
injury to his shin against New Brighton towards the end of June and missed several matches. He has only just returned to the side, scoring three goals in the last two games, and his value as an aggressn e striker combined with his skill in rhe air make him an invaluable member of the United side. Should this injury prove serious then United’s challenge may falter. He is United’s equal top goal-scorer with six. Larter has been in and out of the Woolston side this season but has proved an important asset to the team. He will have physiotherapy treatment during the week. His injury leaves Mr Mann with no back-up striker as Keith Francis, who has played in the front line in his last two appearances, has the flu and was unahle to play on Sunday.
