Truck spills its load
Motorists had to drive through a “sea of tallow” after a truck overturned near the Clarence River Bridge. 40km north of Kaikoura. about 5 p.m. 1 on Sunday. t Local residents said that - hundreds of gallons of tal- > low had spilled across the ’ road and down a bank , after a refrigerated trailer
full of tallow overturned on a sharp bend 100 m north of the Clarence Bridge Ministry of Works camp. "It was a heck of a mess,” said one witness. “The stuff was almost a foot thick in places.” The load of tallow, destined for export, was a total loss. It was pushed over a bank and buried.
