Bell blitz coming
i PA Wellington,’ i Ministry of Transport ! officers will begin a twoweek national safety belt ’blitz on September 15. “But this does not mean we will stop the drinking driver blitz,” said Wellington's Chief Traffic Officer, : Mr J. C. Butterfield, yesterday. “Our flying squads will be sent out at various times I and while the safety belt checkup is on, officers will give breath tests to those drivers they think need it. "We don’t want drivers settling back into old habits like forgetting to use their safety belts correctly.” Mr Butterfield said the flying squad might be used on Sundays as there seemed to be a number of drivers who indulged in heavy Sunday drinking.
