‘Bad effect’ from policy
The policies of the Government had had a bad effect on New Zealand’s image abroad, said the co-ordinator of Release (Mr R. J. Finlay) yesterday.
Release is a Christchurch committee which aims to help the families of South African political prisoners. The acceptance of white migrants from South Africa, New Zealand’s implementation of the Gleneagles Agreement, the lack of diplomatic representation in black Africa, and curbs on the political activities of visiting African students, were examples of such policies, said Mr Finlav.
