School stationery tax
Wellington reporter The Customs Department proposes to impose sales tax on a number of items of school stationery, including ring binders. Revised standards for a wide range of school stationery have now been delayed pending a comprehensive decision from the
department on sales tax > exemptions. Rigorous new standards ; have been approved by the Standards Association on the condition that school stationery bearing the standard certification mark will continue to be exempt from sales tax. Until a decision is made by the Customs Department, the new standards cannot be published. |
