Delay in beer rise
Beer and spirit price rises which had been expected to apply from yesterday are now unlikely to come into force before the end of the week.
The Department of Trade and Industry, which is considering applications from three breweries and the Hotel Association, has called for further information before announcing its decision.
The breweries. Lion, Dominion, and Leopard, seek increases to offset costs which have risen since the last increase in beer prices six months ago. The Hotel Association wants to increase bar margins above a simple passon of brewery price increases.
