Connors wins clay title
NZPA Indianapolis The lop-seeded American, Jimmy Connors, won the SUS2IO,OOO United States Open clay-court tennis title by beating Jose Higueras (Spain) in the final. In the semi-finals Connors beat Higueras’ Davis Cup teammate, Manuel Orantes, the defending champion.
