Brewery profits and prices
Sir, — The following are extracts taken from the “New Zealand Mercantile Gazette” Vol. 103 No. 4831 and dated August 7, 1978: — Investors’ Notebook; Dominion Breweries, Ltd, has in creased its dividend from 15 to 17 per cent following a 40 per cent profit increase in the year to March 31, etc., etc. ‘Lion Breweries Ltd: As already reported Lion lifted net profit by §2,788,000 or 50.8 per cent to $8,280,000 etc., etc. After this how on earth can they have the audacity even to think Of an increase in the price of beer. —Yours, etc., D.
