Successful debut
I'he Riccarton trainer,; Michael McCann, put three; stable runners into the Aylesbury Handicap at Riccar-1 ton on Saturday and saw his own colour-bearer win at | odds of close to 120 to one. i McCann races Te Tangata ;J on lease with his wife! Kathy, and this North i Island-bred Pass the Bottle! colt made a memorable; debut, winning decisively' from the favourite, Kha- i shoggi. The McCanns race Te Tan-j gata on lease from the Wei-; lingtonians Mr and Mrs R. J. Reilly, who bred the chest-; nut from a Bourbon Prince i mare, Early Times. The second dam was the w e 1 1-performed Ruthless ' mare, Gold Ruth. Te Tangata’s sire, Pass the; Bottle, is a son of the American champion, Round Table, and descends from; Gainsborough Lass, the dam of the successful New Zealand-based sires, Knight’s; Romance, Admiral’s Luck, Pride of Kildare, and Resur-! gent. Majestic Returns and La Tigue, the other runners for; the McCann stable in the Aylesbury, were fifth and; eighth respectively.
