French nuclear test
Sir, — A few days ago there was a brief announcement of another nuclear weapon test by France at Mururoa Atoll, reported to be the first of a new series. Since then we have waited in vain for any protest to France by our Government, in spite of declarations by M- Taiboys at the United Nations Special Session on Disarmament that New Zealand supports a nuclear-free zone in the South Pacific, and a comprehensive test ban treaty. We should expect some practical expression of these policies. — Yours, etc.,
