Mister Hillas arrives
Special correspondent Invercargill Mister Hillas, son of the greatest stake winning pacer in the world, the Meadow Skipper Horse, Albatross (lmin 54.6 s and $1,201,470 in stakes), has arrived in Southland. Syndicated by a group of Southland and North Island breeders. Mister Hillas will join a second syndicated sire, Knowing Bret (by Bret Hanover) and the trotting-bred sire. Count Bay, at the Cedar Lodge Stud of Mr Bryce Buchanan, West Plains, Invercargill. Mister Hillas, only a three-year-old is the first son of Albatross to stand at stud in New Zealand. His sire, Albatross (by Meadow Skipper, from the Dancer Hanover Mare, Voodoo Hanover), | was without question the ! champion of his day, winning
a record total of $1,201.470! !in stakes. Until the end of the 1977 season he had more ,2min miles than anv other (horse (37) and he has also made a sensational start as 'a sire. He had records of lmin 57 0.4 s ot two years.
