Juniors look uphill
NZPA staff corres. Toowoomba
The Junior All Blacks will be seeking some consolation for Sunday’s demoralising 3-41 loss to Queensland when they meet Darling Downs, the Queensland country champions, today. The coach, Mr Eric Watson, described the Queensland match as a nightmare and his players are well aware of the painful uphill task facing them in the remaining team matches. “They’d better show a bit more heart and guts than they did on Sunday,” Mr Watson said yesterday. “We need to win this one against Darling Downs — and we need to do it comfortably. "This is going to be another hard game. Darling Downs simply won’t be in the same street as Queensland, but they have some good players and it won’t be a pushover.” Heavy rain earlier this week and the occasional shower since have left Gold Park, venue for the match in the city of 67,000, sodden
Teams for the match.— Juniors: Clive Curry, Paul Reilly, Michael Deane, Mike Nutting, Jim Cotter, Wayne Peters, Richard Dunn, Geoff Old, Alan Dawson (capt.), John Williams, Wayne Graham, Don Hayes, Mark Harding.
