Robbery charge
Four men appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington on Saturday on charges connected with the $2OOO payroll robbery of a man in a Newtown car-park last Thursday. All were re-
manded in custody to reappear today, no pleas being taken.
Denis Brian Moriarty, aged 25, an unemployed landscape gardener; Grant Robert McLennan Campbell, aged 25, a driver, and John Alexander Salt, aged 29, an unemployed painter, appeared on a charge of the aggravated robbery of Thomas Alexander Miller of $2052 on June 29. Hayden Douglas Joyce, aged 23, unemployed, was charged that, knowing Salt and Campbell were parties to an aggravated robbery, he assisted them on June 29 to avoid arrest.
He was also charged that he had in his possession an unlawful weapon, a sawn-off 12-gauge shotgun.
