[“Gay” is, indeed, a fairly well established word, though it may be ambiguous in some circumstances. The success of any campaign to put homosexuals in a more favourable light might well be measured by the degree to which the word “homosexual” can be used without the connotations mentioned by our correspondent. Acceptance of a substitute word is merely disguising the problems.—Editor]
