Gay pride ceremony
A small group of homosexuals and supporters was confronted by an even smaller group of bannerwaving Christians during a ceremony in Cathedral Square last evening.
The confrontation went off without incident, however, and the homosexual group laid a wreath at the Citizens’ War Memorial, in honour of persecuted homosexuals. There were about 18 of them; and their ceremony was watched by about half their number of “new life” Christians, and a similar number of police. It was held to mark the beginning of Gay Pride Week, which is being promoted to encourage homosexuals to “accept their sexuality.”
