II The company has applied •(for the transfer of a whole- > I sale liquor licence from i Dunedin to proposed prem- [ ises in Deans Avenue. NeiJther Mr Edgar, nor the! J assistant general manager in ’I Wellington (Mr O. Benge)! ! was prepared to say what . plans the company had for . the land. “We have a surplus licence in Dunedin and we have an opportunity to use it in Christchurch,” said Mr Benge. However, Mr Edgar said that there would be a “whole complex,” and it would not affect the company’s neighbouring sales yards. “It’s an ideal site,” he said. I Earlier this month the j j Electricity Division of the Ministry of Energy bought] I land at Princess Street, Ad- j I dington, which included.' I Wrightson NMA’s wool ! (store. Eighteen months ago; I the company applied to thej (Riccarton Borough Council; for permission to extend its! premises in Deans Avenue.! The permission was granted,; according to the Town Clerk (Mr T. N. Neate), with spe-| cial conditions, but the com-; pany had made no further! move since then.
