ing that it would authorise its delegates to the I.C.C. in London next month to support such a move. If such a delegation reported favourably it would ease considerably the question of South Africa’s re-admittance to international cricket after an absence lof seven years. In a recent visit to New Zealand. members of the South African Cricket Union told the council that the sport played in South Africa met the two basic requirements: non-racial cricket from club level upwards and selection on merit for provincial and national teams. The council awarded the Windsor Cup and the Redpath Cups, | presented annually to the season’s best bowler and batsman I respectively, to R. J. Hadlea and IG. P. Howarth,
