Bateman TV sale
Two former employees of Bateman Television (1973), Ltd, which is in receivership and in liquidation, have bought the business’s Ashburton branch.
Mr T. G. Thompson, who was the Ashburton branch manager, and Mr D. Watson its serviceman, have bought the business and the lease of the building. They will take over on July 1 and expect to open on July 3.
They have bought about $lO,OOO worth of stock, mainly television sets and stereo equipment, but will auction the rest. They will not run a hiring service. “We are not sure what we will call the business yet, but we have been told we can use the Bateman name,” said Mr Thompson last evening. This branch is the only one of Bateman’s five branches that has been sold.
