Good Auckland wools firm
i PA Auckland ! The market for a limited ; supply of fleece was 2| per !cent dearer, and good early- ; shorn and second-shear wools (were firm at the Auckland (sale on Thursday. Poor-style and shorter (second-shear wools were in buyers’ favour; oddments !were irregular and up to 2J per cent cheaper. The offering of 25,000 bales ! of new season’s wool was mainly second-shear and second-shear hogget. The feature of the offering was the good colour and high yield of much of the wool. Competition was widespread.
i Eastern and Western Europe, Japan and the Middle East I were the main buyers and ■ good support came from New - Zealand mills and merchant’s ; scourers. The official range of prices was:— • Medium crossbred. 44/48s: Good average 217 to 223. Average. 202 to 208. Early-shorn, 46/50s: Good, — to 227. Good average. 216 to 222. Average. 209 to 215. Second-shear, good length, 44/48s: Good to super — to 228. Good. 218 to 224. Good average 211 to 217. Average, 204 to 210. Second-shear, short, 44/48s: Good to super, — to 227. Good, 216 to 222. Good average. 209 to 215. Average. 202 to 208.
