Alcohol vote
Greenlanders. renowned for their heavy drinking, want to restrict the sale of alcohol, but not to ban it altogether, referendum results have shown. The vote is not binding, but will guide the local government when the huge Danish island gets extensive home rule next year. Heavy drinking has been * serious social problem in 'Greenland for years. The average Greenlander drinks twice as much liquor as a Danish mainlander. — Gndthaab
