$100 for day in hospital
I Visitors from any country except Britain will now have to pay $llO a day if they are admitted to any general I hospital run by the North Canterbury Hospital Board. The rate is the same as that which the board receives for New Zealand residents from the Government. The rate for foreign visitors lasl year was $B6 a day. The rate applies only to overseas people who do not intend to stay in New Zealand. British residents are exempt because New Zealand has a reciprocal socialsecurity agreement with Britain. The chief executive of the hospital board (Mr R. I. Parker said that a “steady trickle” of people, mostly from Australia, and the i United States, used the i board’s hospitals. The daily rate of $llO applies to Christchurch Hospi- « tai, Burwood Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, and Christchurch Women’s Hospital. The dailv rates for other North Canterbury hospitals are $44 at Coronation Hospital, $34 al Sunnyside, $33 at Queen Mary, and $27 at Templeton.
