Wife bashing
Sir, —The recent articles printed in your paper on the Subject of wife bashing have prompted us to add some comments. While we sympathise with women in this position it would seem that in the majority of cases there would have, to be a reason. Alcohol would appear to play a major part in this. Few alcoholics have control of their faculties while drunk and while the guilt is there the responsibility is not Women beaten by alcoholic husbands can get assistance from numerous organisations and also assistance for their husbands. We are not suggesting that every wife basher is an alcoholic but the abuse of alcohol is very often a root cause.
