Reprisal threat
About 1000 riot police have ended a nine-day sit-in by striking workers at the State-owned car giant, Renault, factory at Cleon, near Paris, and trade union leaders immediately threatened vigorous reprisals. About 150 strikers, demanding wage rises, longer holidays, and early retirement, agreed to leave peacefully soon after police surrounded the plant and ordered them out. The Communist-led C.G.T. union called for stoppages in all Renault factories today in protest against the police intervention — the second in a week. — Paris.
