Work on Riccarton fences
Seven hundred bundles of manuka are being cut for the restoration of the hurdle and steeplechase r ences at Riccarton. The fences are being prepared for the coming jumping season which will get under way at the Christi church Hunt Club's meeting on July 29. The manuka is being cut at Little River.
! “One more day’s cutting is required but the removal of the manuka is being held up by the wet and greasy conditions,” said the course superintendent, Mr Pat Reardon, last evening. “The hurdles are to be rebuilt this year and we will be starting on them today,” he added.
The steeplechase fences will be refaced.
