Y.W.C.A. expands

Recreational fields in the {winter hobby programmes at ’the Y.W.C.A. have been expanded with the addition of a staff member to the programme department. Ms Joanne Dobson, a ;graduate of the Otago University School of Physical Education, has brought het sKitls to the existing areas of (girls’ and women’s gymnastics and keep-fit classes. Classes will begin this week a Riccarton. New Brighton, Woolston, and the city centre in preparation tor the Canterbury gymnastic competitions later this month. Progress at the Y.W.C.A. field of gymnastics for preschoolers. Classes at Riccarton and Bishopdale cater for the development Of early motor skills through play and free movement. The innovation of trampoline classes for boys and girls at New Brighton has been made possible by the Pegasus Round Table Associ{ation and the National ■ Y.W.C.A. Extension fund who gave money for the purchase of a new trampoline. As well as these activities, the Y.W.C.A. has many varied activities in other fields, ; which will begin this week )as part of the winter proi gramme.
