Priests at poker?
NZPA London An Irish bishop has ordered an inquiry into allegations that British and Irish Roman Catholic priests held all-night poker games during a golf tournament. At one time, stakes were reportedly up to £lOO. 'More than 100 priests stayed at a hotel in Killarney where the games allegedly took place during the threeday match. The Archbishop of Cardiff (the Most Rev. Dr J. A. Murphy), president of the Priests'’ Golfing Association, said that although he did not see any poker games he thought there was a “school” somewhere in the hotel. The Bishop of Ossory, whose diocese inchides Killarney', is investigating the incident.
