National Band
The New Zealand National Band will assemble at Bumham Military Camp in two weeks to prepare for a three-month overseas tour. The band, which this year includes 15 Christchurch bandsmen, will spend 10 days at the camp. During that time it will give a concert in the Christchurch Town Hall. The national band has an overseas tour every three or four years. This tour it will be accompanied by the Aotearoa Maori Group. The party of 70, will spend three months touring Britain, the Netherlands, and the United States. The highlight of the tour will be a grand concert in London, in which three leading brass-band conductors, Harry Mortimer, Eric Ball, and Geoffrey Brand, will appear as guest conductors.
