W.M.C. find shows higher grades

The major copper, zinc, and silver deposit discovered by Western Mining Corporation, Ltd, at Benambra, Victoria, last month has been confirmed with even higher grades. Mining observers say the proximity of the two holes which hit the heavy sulphide mineralisation confirm a massive deposit. Hole No. 18, which was drilled 50m north of the first discovery hole, Hole No. 17, reported even higher grades. Assays results from this hole were 9.9 per cent for

copper as against 4.0 per cent for the previous hole. Zinc was down at 4.8 per cent as against 7.3 per cent, but silver was higher at 38gm a tonne as against 32gm. Western Mining’s partner in the venture is B.P. Minerals. The directors said the sulphide mineralisation was over a width of 16.3 m at a depth from 80.2 to 96.5 m. Drilling is continuing, but the completion of the next hole on the prospect may be delayed because of difficulty of access during winter.
