M.P. to vote against law

PA Hamilton The member of Parliament for Hamilton East (Mr D. I. J. Shearer) yesterday vowed he would again become a lone voice among the Government benches in protest against Parliamentary tinkering with the abortion law. He said he would continue his stand “to show up this sort of farce.”

On Thursday he was the only Government member to vote against the introduction of amendments requested by the Abortion Supervisory Committee. “I could have abstained. But I intend taking part in the debate during the committee stages and third read-; ing,- so I think it is more, logical for me to vote against! it,” he said.
