Elections for executive seats

Elections will be necessary for all but the North and South Island vice-presi-dents of the Trotting Conference. Mr C. R. Elliott (Morrinsville) will be the new North Island vice-president, and Mr H. J. Hewson (Kaikoura) has been re-elected to the corresponding South Island position.

Mr G. C. Cruickshank (Invercargill), who is seeking a fifth term, is being challenged for the position of president by Mr R. Lewis (Auckland), who for some years has been the North Island vice-president. Messrs R. Hanford (Auckland), I. N. R. McKay (Palmerston North), L. J. Rutherford (Whangarei) and T. R. Thompson (Hamilton) will contest three North Island seats on the executive. Messrs Rutherford and Thompson are retiring members. Sir James Barnes (Dune-

din) and C, H. Baynes (Gore, the retiring South Island members of the executive, are being challenged by Mr P. F. O’Brien (Blenheim). There will also be an election for the North Island representative on the Racing Authority. The retiring member, Mr M. M. N. Corner (Auckland) is being challenged by Mr Elliott.

Mr Cruickshank has been re-elected for another threeyear term as the South Island’s representative on the Authority.
