Dunedin widens lead

Dunedin City increased its lead at the top of the Broadlands Southern League points table after the seventh round of matches on Saturday. It beat Cashmere-Wanderers 4-1, in Dunedin, the second placed team, Caversham, dropped a vital point in a 1-1 draw with New Brighton at Queen Elizabeth II Park.

Peter Bennie scored In the first half for Brighton, and David Alabaster scored for Caversham in the second spell.

North End United crushed Shamrock 5-2. It managed to have a 3-0 lead after seven minutes, which gave it a handy start. Two own goals and another from John Moodie. with Brent Berry getting two in the second half, was the North End talley. Stan Woolliscroft scored just before half-time — and missed three open goals — and Peter Schuyt scored from the penalty spot in the second half. Rangers had a good 4-1 win over Northern Hearts at Rangers Park while Western narrowly beat Technical, 1-0. Murray
