Long debate for P.P.T.A.
PA Wellington A two-day national conference convened by the Postprimary Teachers’ Association to determine its next move in its salary claim began yesterday behind closed doors.
Seventy-five delegates representing the association’s 23 regions, plus the executive members, gathered for what promised to be a long debate. The president (Mr P. B. Andrews) said before the meeting that the greatest hope lay in a united approach. He counselled against direct action and splits within the regions, but did not entirely discount the possibility of another national day of protest.
