Suspicious fire at Ashburton
The Ashburton police were treating as suspicious a fire which damaged a house at 124 Havelock Street early last evening. The house was apparently unoccupied and police had been unable to say who owned or occupied the house.
The fire was reported by neighbours at 5.50 p.m. after flames and smoke had been seen. The Ashburton Fire Service attended the fire.
