Marie’s Belle ready
Special Correspondent Wanganui
Marie's Belle caught the eye in her final trial at Wanganui yesterday for the Woodville meeting tomorrow.
Working on the easy No. 1 grass, Marie’s Belle was four lengths behind Girasol when they left the 800 m. Rounding the straight entrance Marie’s Belle began to make ground and swept past her partner just short of the line. She registered 51s for the distance, the last 600 m taking 38s. Pepper Pot, back with G. S. Hammond, was given her first assignment since resuming with an easy 600 m in 39.85. She has filled out considerably during her summer spell.
The open handicapper Trial Bid, which has come through preliminary racing in good style, was schooled over four batten fences. He had a good winter last season when jumping bouts were part and parcel of his training programme.
