Two fillies top sale at $2200

Two yearling fillies realised top price of $2200 at a sale of standardbred stock held at Addington Raceway yesterday. One by Brad Hanover from Gold Mecca was offered on behalf of Mr J. W. Pitcaithly, of Christchurch, and she was purchased by Mr D. M. Meredith, of Christchurch.

The other, by Noble Lord from Light Singer, was bought by Mr D. J. Langford, of Temuka. She was offered by Mr D. G. Nyhan of Templeton. Inquiry throughout the day was extremely restricted and, of the 17 lots sold for $15,150, only seven realised four-figure sums. Passings were frequent, 28 lots failing to reach the reserves placed on them by vendors. In many cases the prices offered were about 50 per cent of the announced reserves.

The sale was the first conducted in Christchurch by Dalgety Bloodstock, and the offering generally was not one to arouse much interest among buyers.
